Ashrama
Centering Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (EMRS), a branch centre of the Ramakrishna Mission, viz. Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jhargram has come into existence from 20 August 2017 , the Janmatithi of Swami Advaitanandaji Maharaj.
Activities at a glance :
Educational
- A Co-Educational Higher Secondary Residential School for the Tribal students. Most of the students are first generation learners with a roll strength of 460 students, at present.
- 5 free coaching centres where 320 students are given free coaching, dress, and a light tiffin.
- Scholarships to poor students – In the year 2023-24, till now, we have given scholarships worth 9 lakhs to 114 students hailing from Jhargram district.
Welfare
- Providing dress materials among the needy, pecuniary help and other types of assistance to the poor.
- Distress Relief in times of natural calamities.
- Winter relief by way of kambal distribution.
- A monthly motivational program is held at the Jhargram correctional home.
- A bi-monthly free homeopathic camp by Dr Ashoke Padhan.
- Yearly Blood Donation camp where more than 100 people donate blood.
- Under Swami Vivekananda Tree Plantation program 14000 trees planted till now.
- 6 widows are given a monthly pension of Rs 1200.
- ‘Arise, Awake’ – A value education program in schools/colleges in Jhargram district. As on February 2024, nearly 8000 students and 400 teachers in 32 institutions covered under this program
- Annual Dt level Football Tournament, Yogasana competitions, cultural competitions are conducted.
Youth
- Vivekananda study circles conducted at 12 places in the district.
- National Youth Day celebrations.
- Sunday Value Education Classes for the children of 6 to 12 years
Spiritual
- Celebration of birth anniversaries of Sri Thakur, Holy Mother, Swami Vivekananda and Direct Disciples.
- Regular religious discourses, Evening Prayer and Ramnamsankirtan on Ekadashi days.
- Religious and Cultural functions including Spiritual Retreats, Youth Conventions, etc.
- Sale of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda & Vedanta literature.
