Inauguration of Sidhu-Kanu Staff Quarters building
We are pleased to inform you that Revered Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj, Assistant General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, inaugurated the newly constructed Sidhu-Kanu Staff Quarters building at our Ashrama on Sunday, 26 April 2026. The building has been constructed with generous financial assistance amounting to ₹3.23 crores from the Tribal Development Department, Government of West Bengal. The five storied building comprises of ten 2 BHK flats, each measuring approximately 850 sq. ft., along with other ancillary facilities. The quarters are intended for the staff of our Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (EMRS), a fully residential co-educational higher secondary school dedicated exclusively to the tribal students of Jhargram district. The inauguration ceremony was followed by a brief meeting held on the school campus, during which revered Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj addressed the students and inspired them to strive for excellence in their future lives. The function was attended by members of the Managing Committee, devotees, and the school staff. (Note: Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu were tribal freedom fighters who led the 1855–1856 Santhal Rebellion (Santhal Hool) against British colonial oppression, zamindars, and moneylenders in Jharkhand and Bengal. On June 30, 1855, they mobilized 10,000 Santals to fight for self-rule, marking a significant early uprising in Indian history.)
